EDIA

Can artificial intelligence have biases and stereotypes?

Yes. That’s why we created EDIA, a tool that enables you to uncover these biases without needing technical knowledge.

On September 24th, the DemocracIA Forum took place, an event aimed at bringing together experts from the region and around the world to analyze the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on democracies. Luciana Benotti, from Vía Libre, was invited to the panel “Responsible Innovation: Towards Better Practices in AI Development.” This panel discussed how to balance technological innovation with the protection of citizens’ rights. Representatives from the private sector, academia, and civil society analyzed how to promote bias-free AI that serves diversity and social justice.

Luciana Benotti participated in the panel alongside Paula Vargas (Meta), Claudia López (National Center for Artificial Intelligence -CENIA- of Chile), Paola Ricuarte (<A+> Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms), and Harry Farmer (Ada Lovelace Institute). The panel was moderated by Julia Pomares from the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment and host of the podcast Fantasmas en los algoritmos (“Ghosts in the Algorithms”).

In addition, various panels were held throughout the event, which ran from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires.

The event was organized by Luminate, CivicCompass, and the International Fund for Public Interest Media.
