UNDP Meeting – Argentina

EDIA

Can artificial intelligence have biases and stereotypes?

Yes. That’s why we created EDIA, a tool that enables you to uncover these biases without needing technical knowledge.

On October 1st, the event “Artificial Intelligence: New Skills and Horizons in the Future of Education in Argentina” took place. The event, organized by the UNDP, brought together experts to analyze the impact of AI on the labor market and education in Argentina. Laura Alonso Alemany from Vía Libre participated in this meeting, which involved authorities, academia, and the private sector. The purpose of the event was to examine the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on Argentina’s labor market and education, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Under the premise: What skills should people have for technological changes? Laura emphasized that the most valuable one is the ability to determine when a system is behaving beneficially or harmfully. And that this responsibility should fall on citizens, not just the owners of the technologies. She also highlighted the importance of motivating people to become creators, not just consumers of technology. And this is not utopian: Vía Libre is implementing it with over 300 teachers, who are bringing it to their students. And it works.

🗣️ “If we want students to have a personalized tutor in their pocket, and that tutor speaks in a Porteño accent, Cordobeses will not trust it. Trust is key, and I want them to be able to identify that distrust and build technology that generates trust.” Laura Alonso Alemany.
