EDIA

Can artificial intelligence have biases and stereotypes?

Yes. That’s why we created EDIA, a tool that enables you to uncover these biases without needing technical knowledge.

Together with colleagues from the Red F<A+i>r, we attended the session “Building Feminist AI in Latin America: experiences from the ground” on Thursday, June 6.

This conference brings together the experiences and reflections of activists, professionals, and academics from Latin America who are part of the Latin America and Caribbean core of the Feminist AI Research Network. There, we will share the work we have been doing at Vía Libre.

The seventh annual ACM FAccT conference was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 3 to 6, 2024, at the Othon Palace Hotel, on Copacabana beach. The conference brings together researchers and professionals interested in fairness, accountability, and transparency in sociotechnical systems.

Laura Alonso Alemany and Guido Ivetta from the Vía Libre team traveled to the event to participate. They attended various sessions there.

– On June 3, Laura Alonso Alemany participated in the session “Grounded Frameworks for auditing public sector uses of AI in Latin America” organized by Derechos Digitales.

– On June 4, they attended the CRAFT session “Towards Responsible Non-extractive AI Research” at #FAccT2024. For more information, you can visit the following link.

Also on the same day, they conducted a demonstration of EDIA: “Evaluation of Bias for Experts in Discrimination, not in computer science” in a tutorial format. You can visit the following link for more information.
