On September 24, the DemocracIA Forum took place, an event aimed at bringing together experts from the region and around the world to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on democracies. Luciana Benotti, from Fundación Vía Libre, was invited to join the panel “Responsible Innovation: Towards Better Practices in AI Development.” The panel discussed how to balance technological innovation with the protection of citizens’ rights. Representatives from the private sector, academia, and civil society analyzed how to promote bias-free AI that serves diversity and social justice.
Luciana Benotti participated in the panel alongside Paula Vargas (Meta), Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial (CENIA) representative Claudia López, Paola Ricuarte from the A+ Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms, and Harry Farmer from the Ada Lovelace Institute. The panel was moderated by Julia Pomares of the Global Initiative for Digital Empowerment and host of the podcast Fantasmas en los algoritmos.
The event featured several panels throughout the day, running from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires.
The event was organized by Luminate, CivicCompass, and the International Fund for Public Interest Media.
